Polygon ID and Web3 Builder Company Edenia Team Up to Develop a Next-Generation Decentralized ID Tool and a Verified Credentials Smart Contract to Enhance Identity Management

Today, Edenia, a prominent web3 builder company, is excited to announce its collaboration with Polygon ID, a blockchain platform offering self-sovereign identity and privacy solutions to build Decentralized IDs (DIDs) and Verified Credentials (VCs) using Polygon ID’s cutting-edge technology, aiming to enhance user-centric identity management for users worldwide.
This project became one of the first use cases of Polygon ID’s framework in the Latin American region. It includes a smart contract based on Polygon ID’s open-source framework for handling DIDs and VCs and an issuer node allowing authenticated users to issue and manage credentials seamlessly. The custom-made verifier app will facilitate both on-chain and off-chain verification. Additionally, users will have access to a user-friendly interface for credential management.
DIDs and VCs empower individuals to gain control over their digital identities, eliminating the reliance on centralized authorities. DIDs establish a self-sovereign identifier model, while VCs facilitate secure, privacy-preserving claims exchange. Together, they lay the foundation for contemporary, user-oriented identity systems.
The project will be available for academic institutions and other organizations that need a secure and trustworthy platform to issue credentials. By embracing blockchain technology, users can have a reliable registry of immutable records, and the possibility to manage who has access to these with increased control. The verifying app provides a smooth, personalized, and privacy-focused authentication to guarantee a transparent validation process.

Users can expect a seamless experience using the application, which is accessible through their mobile devices. After downloading the Polygon ID wallet, they can manage their digital identity and grant visualization access to other users, such as a recruiter or a government institution. On the other hand, an authenticated user can issue a credential, for instance, an academic certificate, which will remain linked to the user’s account. That way, the platform can introduce new layers of trust and transparency for compliance or recruiting processes.

The assets produced by this collaboration, including the smart contract, issuer node, and custom-made Polygon ID Verifier, will be made available as open-source for other developers and organizations to build more applications, including identity verification and secure data sharing.
